Hi, I’m Patrick Scholz
About Me
I’m a photographer at heart. Over the past several years I’ve dedicated myself to preserving my grandfather’s photographic archive—archiving, scanning, and restoring small-, medium-, and large-format negatives, including fragile glass plates. That work has deepened my expertise in photo research, caption writing, metadata creation, and copyright management for historical imagery.
I continue to pursue my own photography, primarily working in medium format, both digital and film. I also explore making and expressing through other mediums like oil painting.

My Approach
My photographic approach is rooted in deliberate composition, meticulous attention to tonal detail, and a measured balance between technical precision and creative intuition; I choose the Hasselblad X2D 100MP because its exceptional dynamic range, color fidelity, and high-resolution sensor capture the subtle textures and nuanced gradients that define my subjects, while its ergonomic design and reliable performance let me focus on framing and moment rather than equipment. I pair the X2D with Profoto lighting because Profoto’s consistent, sculptable light sources and robust modifiers allow me to shape light with predictability and control—producing clean highlights, deep yet controlled shadows, and precise contrast that complement the camera’s capability. Together they form a dependable toolkit that elevates image fidelity and repeatability, enabling me to realize a clear visual intent whether working in studio or on location.
